It truly was the ‘hair-raising’ event we were promised at our annual Installation on June 30! We had not one, but two brave volunteers for a hair makeover: long-time Chapter member Helena Chenn AICI CIM, and Margaret Pantano, a close friend of Chapter incoming President Elena Daciuk. Festoon Salon owner, Melissa Ryan, and one of her top stylists, Daren, demonstrated their live consults and thought processes with both ladies at the start of the evening. A lively Q&A took place between the audience and the stylists throughout the evening, as they prepared to do the makeovers and again when the magical transformations were revealed.
And here they are! Helena’s already short style was modified and given an updated and modern razor cut that worked beautifully with her hair type and face shape. Margaret opted to go for a major change and her long locks were cut into a flattering short angular bob, also razor-cut. Both transformations took into consideration the women’s life styles and hair-care-time constraints, so that they would be able to easily style their new cuts on a daily basis. Needless to say, these makeovers elicited many ooh’s and aah’s from the group.
Melissa and Daren ended the evening with a presentation on current hair and hair product trends. With all the new developments in hair products, and given the importance of product in achieving the styles we want, we learned that it’s important to stay current with what’s available because there’s a product for virtually every need. Festoon Salon carries a large number of brands in-house, which they generously shared with us in the goodie-bags they provided to every attendee.
