Globally, AICI membership is represented in over twenty countries, and we have established AICI chapters in North America, Canada, Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia, Mexico, Nigeria, and South America.

AICI developed from the merger of two separate associations in 1990 and chose as its description, "The premier international image association." This motto was chosen because it represented a merger of the two oldest image associations, had the largest membership, and was dedicated to being first and best.

AICI WEST was the Founding Chapter of AICI, and in 2020 is celebrating 30 years!
